AIS offers free training to military staff made redundant

Tuesday 18 June 2013

In light of today's sad news about military personnel being made redundant AIS is offering a week's free training to soldiers who’ve lost their jobs to help them retrain for the booming oil and gas and renewables sector. AIS is also pledging to donate £1 for every military training delegate to Help the Heroes.

Worth up to £1000 per delegate, the training will include essential offshore courses such as CCNSG, manual handling, electrical awareness, working at height and confined space to help military personnel get a foot on the ladder of an offshore career.

Paul Stonebanks, managing director at AIS, said: “Being made redundant can be a devastating blow so we wanted to give light at the end of the tunnel and demonstrate that there are other careers available.

“Ex-military people always succeed in an offshore environment as there are lots of synergies with army life. You’re working away from home, living in close proximity to other men in a confined space, with a lot of similar camaraderie.

“We are offering free training to the first 50 soldiers who contact us having been made redundant. Hopefully this will help some of those military personnel get their foot on the ladder of an offshore career.”
