AIS Wins North East Export Awards

Tuesday 30 June 2015

AIS has collected two awards from the prestigious North East Exporter Awards after being named SME Exporter and Overall Exporter of the Year.

AIS took the trophies at a glittering awards ceremony at Ramside Hall in County Durham recently, where judges heard how AIS has experienced a phenomenal 80% growth year-on-year with 70% of its manufacturing output being exported to 30 countries worldwide.

AIS designs, manufactures and installs lifesaving fire protection and insulation jacketing systems for the oil and gas, petrochemical and heavy industry sectors.

Since the company’s inception in 2006, it has grown from a team of two to a multi-million pound global business employing 150 people at sites across the UK and internationally.

AIS invests heavily in research and development and has recently launched additional safety critical fire protection products to add to its award-winning “Jet Fire Pro” range of passive fire protection systems. These provide up to 180 lifesaving minutes to enable personnel to evacuate safely in the rare event of a real life fire scenario.

As well as manufacturing award-winning products, AIS delivers world-class industrial training from its state-of-the-art offshore training villages in North Shields and Grimsby. It has also recently launched an Innovation and Competency Hub in Aberdeen to deliver onsite training for clients.

AIS’s impressive achievements made it a clear winner for the title.

Sponsored by UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), the North East Chamber of Commerce (NECC) and HSBC, the awards – now in their 19th year – celebrate the achievements of companies who have demonstrated outstanding export success.

Managing director and owner of AIS, Paul Stonebanks, said: “We are delighted to have scooped not one but two prestigious awards. Our success is increasingly being recognised by the wider business community and this is the latest in a long line of awards for AIS – the most recent being a Queen’s Award for Enterprise.

“Innovation is at the company’s heart and we have invested heavily in research and development to ensure our products and services are the most advanced in the world. This approach is clearly paying off as our global reputation for world-leading products and services increases. We have seen huge growth in exporting and expect this to continue as we enter new international territories such as North and South America.”

All products within AIS’s Jet Fire Pro range have received type approval from independent global verifiers – DNV-GL and Lloyds Register. Other cutting-edge, innovative products manufactured by AIS include the Aero Lite, Weather Pro and Acoustic Pro ranges which help protect offshore structures from extreme temperatures of between -270 up to 1,250 degrees centigrade, as well as providing frost protection, thermal protection and noise reduction applications.
